What stays on your device, and what does not
POP88 keeps what you pop on your device. This page sets out exactly what leaves it, why, and who receives it.
What never leaves your device
Your pop count, the times you popped, which bubbles on the sheet are already flattened, your settings, and the share destinations you used most recently are stored only on your device.
There is no POP88 server and no account. Deleting the app deletes these records with it. You can also clear them yourself from "Erase all records" on the statistics screen.
What does leave your device
| What | Why | Who receives it |
|---|---|---|
| Advertising identifier (IDFA on iOS, Advertising ID on Android) | To show ads | Google (AdMob) |
| Records of ads shown and tapped | To show ads | Google (AdMob) |
| Screen names, device model and OS version | To see which screens get used | Google (Firebase Analytics) |
| Crash reports and device model | To fix what crashed | Google (Firebase Crashlytics) |
| An identifier that changes with each installation | To fetch settings, such as switching where ads come from | Google (Firebase Remote Config) |
| Purchase receipts and an anonymous identifier RevenueCat issues | To carry your purchases to a new device and restore them | RevenueCat |
| The purchase itself | To take payment | Apple, Google |
Ads
Ads come from Google AdMob. Personalised ads are shown only when both of the following hold: in regions where consent is required, you have given it in the consent form; and on iOS, you have allowed tracking.
If either is missing, the ads shown are not personalised. You can change your consent at any time from "Ads and privacy" in the settings, and your iOS tracking permission from the Settings app.
Purchases
Payment is handled by the App Store and Google Play. Card numbers and other payment details never reach POP88.
A record of what you bought is held by RevenueCat and is used to restore your purchases when you change devices.
Permissions
Adding to your photo library is asked for only when you choose to save a shared image. The image is saved on your device; POP88 never reads your photos.
Notifications are asked for only when you turn the switch on in the settings. They are created on your device and are not sent from a server.
The microphone and reading your photo library are never requested. Purpose strings for them appear in the app because bundled libraries reference those APIs, but no dialog is ever shown.
Location and contacts
POP88 does not collect either.
Deleting your data
Records on your device: use "Erase all records" on the statistics screen, or delete the app.
